SpiritBird Matcha
SpiritBird Matcha is a packaging design project created for Prana Cafe in Austin, Texas. The goal was to create a bright, playful package that would stand out while fitting naturally within the cafe’s existing environment and aesthetic.
The project gave me the opportunity to explore packaging design through color, typography, and abstract graphic elements, ultimately creating a finished product that is now sold at Prana Cafe.

The Design Process
Layout Drafts
I explored several layout directions to determine how the typography and graphic elements could work together.
Different typographic styles were tested alongside abstract shapes placed around and within the lettering.
I drew inspiration from a range of bright and darker green tones, using contrast to create visual interest and give the packaging a fresh, energetic feel.
The color exploration helped establish the overall direction of the design while keeping the matcha product visually connected to its natural qualities.
These explorations helped me find a balance between playful graphic elements and clear, readable type.
Through the drafting process, I refined the placement, scale, and relationship between the shapes and typography until the final direction felt cohesive.
Finals Designs
The final revisions brought the strongest elements from the layout explorations together into the finished SpiritBird Matcha packaging.
The combination of contrasting greens, typography, and abstract shapes creates a bold and playful design while keeping the packaging clean and recognizable.
The finished packaging is now available at Prana Cafe in Austin, Texas.
Reflection
I’m really happy I had the opportunity to work on this project for Prana Cafe. Packaging design was especially enjoyable to explore because I got to see the design move from early ideas and layout experiments into a finished, physical product.
I’m proud of how the final packaging came together and excited to see the work being used and sold in a real Austin cafe.
